No bottle opener, no problem!

The 9 Best Ways To Open a Bottle Without a Bottle Opener

Use a Spoon
Find a big spoon in your kitchen and use it as a pry bar when your bottle opener goes amiss. The spoon should face up and be inserted underneath the cap. Then push up on the tip of the spoon to remove the cap, and you’ve got a new way to open a beer bottle without a bottle opener.

Use a Lighter
This is a great camping hack. If someone has a lighter handy, you can turn it into a bottle opener with a flick.
Here’s how to open a beer with a lighter. Grab the neck of the bottle with one hand and use a lighter as a pry tool. Place the wide side of the bottom of the lighter below the cap while your other hand is positioned just below the cap. It works out as a lever system with the knuckle acting as a fulcrum.

Use a Belt Buckle
Did you know belts were so versatile? Depending on the buckle, you can use it to open a bottle too. Use the buckle as a traditional bottle opener to unleash the refreshing hops. If you can’t figure out the physics, retailers have started offering belts with bottle openers built in.

Use a Dollar Bill
If you really want to impress your friends and silence the haters, just whip out some cash to open a bottle for them. Take a dollar bill of any denomination (hundreds are the classy option), fold it in half, roll it up or fold it up, fold it in half again and start prying away at the bottle cap.

Use a Table Edge
This is a timeless classic. Find a table or a counter edge, and just notch the beer cap on the edge. Slam down on the edge of the cap with your other hand. It might take a time or two in order to get the hang of it, but it’s usually a failsafe for knowing how to open a bottle without a bottle opener.
Be aware that you can damage the table top surface, so it’s best to find a spot that can handle another dent or two.

Use Another Bottle
The first time I tried this one, it seemed more like a magic trick. Here’s how to do it. Just hold one upside down and line up the bottle cap with the one you want to open. Then just pry away. Physics dictates that you won’t open both bottles.

Use a Door
Place the top of the bottle of beer inside the strike plate of a door and lodge the bottle cap against the edge of the opening. Pull back the bottle of beer and enjoy. Talk about making an entrance.

Use a Ring
Work the ring under the bottle cap as you place your ring finger over the bottle cap. Once situated, lift up on the bottle cap with your ring finger.

Use a Rubber Band
Rubber bands have to be one of the most versatile household products, at least when you can actually find them. If you need to open a bottle with one, just wrap the rubber band around the crown of the bottle cap and start twisting. The cap should pop off in a little while, and the rubber band will keep you from shredding your hands.
