Command Center

Needing a place to store mail and other household paperwork, @paintandcheerinteriors created a removable command center to cover the electrical panel in this multi-functional space. (It also serves as a laundry room and pantry.)

The command center features hinged plywood and wire mail sorters. It’s painted Hazel by Sherwin-Williams to match the rest of the beautiful trim work.

Cover It With Art

The quickest and easiest way to hide an electrical panel is with artwork. Seen here, @valeriajacobs hangs a framed piece of art over the panel, and no one is the wiser! Be sure to choose lightweight artwork like canvas so it’s easy and safe to remove when you need to get to the panel.

Panel Doors

To cover the panel in this finished basement, @starcocustomcarpentry created a floor-to ceiling pop-out with medium-density fiberboard (MDF). Then, at the panel, they cut cabinet doors out of MDF and attached with cabinet hinges. The finished project is seamless while allowing easy access to the panel. Leaning Mirror

This panel sits high on the wall and off-center, making it difficult to hide. So @kimmieelizabeth came up with a creative solution.

She covered the top of the wall with peel-and-stick wallpaper, then leaned a large, framed mirror to cover the rest of the wall. It not only conceals the panel, but the reflection of the mirror makes the whole space feel twice as big.

Note: If you have children or pets who might knock the mirror over, best to try another solution.

This vertical design by Jon Hamm of @aldergrovefinefinishing features 1/2-in. MDF slats spaced evenly to create a stunning feature wall. He cut in a barely visible door to provide access to the electrical panel. He says Blum cabinet hinges work best for thick doors like these.

Custom Cabinet

A simple white cabinet, like this one by @paynecontracting, hides the electrical panel without taking up too much wall space.

Payne cut the drywall around the panel, built a sturdy wood box to encase it, and then added cabinet doors and hardware. The door trim adds a stylish, decorative finish, upgrading it from just another utility cabinet.
